Vickie’s acrylic painting called “Reflections” is a story portraying a parent’s inherent desire to guide their children towards good behavior and shield them from the dangers of the world. As parents, we want to protect our children from making mistakes that could ultimately bring pain and hardship. On the left, a male Quail is seen eyeing the youngster on the far right as he is inching further and further away from its parent’s protection. There is often one child or in this case quail who tests their boundaries. It is always wise and prudent to listen to your parents and follow their counsel. Vickie’s rich, dark textured background further enhanced the mood of the painting. The beautiful earth tones seen in the quail feathers against the dark background and rich colorful water create an old world feeling to the painting.
