Vickie’s acrylic paintings have a distinct style to accommodate her disability called Essential Tremors. To create detail, she holds her breath while embracing her painting hand in order to achieve the desired stroke. Her process is extensive. Vickie’s paintings can have as many as 20 layers of thick paint coupled with thin layers of glazes. As a master in watercolors, Vickie’s acrylic paintings mimic many of the same techniques found in her watercolors. She has discovered acrylics better compliment her impasto style of painting adding a richer depth, texture and vibrancy to her body of work. Vickie enjoys working in both plein-air and in the studio from both studies and photographs.
