Light in the Storm

On a particularly stormy day in San Clemente, I went down to the beach to paint--there was so much wind I could not even stand, so I lay in the sand to do some sketch reference for future paintings. This painting was developed from one of those sketches, emphasizing the power of the storm and the breadth of the sky.
