Mountainside Iridescence

The collection of visual material for this began a couple of years ago during an overnight camping trip to this spot, which was about a day's hike to get there. Armed with a sketchbook and my color charts, I gathered notes and sketches to bring back to the studio. I painted a few pieces in various compositions soon after that time, and I guess I decided I wasn't done exploring painting ideas from this spectacular spot. (Or maybe I just figured it was such a long hike to get there, and we about froze camping there that night, that I wanted to make sure it was worth it!)
