Backyard Bramble

During Covid, I was looking for something to inspire me to paint. This is my backyard garden of iris and overgrown roses. I liked the way the light was coming straight down, hitting the flowers while leaving the wall in shadow. The texture of the folliage and grass and the shadows coming from them inspired me to try a little palette knife work on this small painting.
