Painted from life. There is a story to the tree that bears those blossoms. When I was nine, I collected a sack of horse chestnuts from a tree in town. I took them home and stored them in the barn. A couple of days later I noticed there were fewer of them. Turned out a chipmunk was raiding the sack and carrying them out to a nest he'd made in my mom's rock garden. A couple of years later, one of those nuts sprouted and now 40 years later, I get to paint the flowers on the tree.
