Sunset on the South Rim

My motivation with this painting was to capture the Grand Canyon at sunset, with a very tonal palette. Under certain conditions, the shapes and the lighting can offer so much drama. In this particular work, the focus was to show there is also subtlety and nuance at days end. It was a beautiful opportunity to play with warm and cool colors.
