This is one of my Landscape Impossible series in that it is taken from a series of my own photographs from Southbank of the Yarra river in Melbourne. The impossibility is that I am looking North East and West at the same time. I other words it is a 180 view. We can see this image peripherally but we can not focus. Happily an artist can. An artist can also adjust the vertical perspective so that the buildings are not out of whack. What I did need for this image to be successful was clear distance between observer and city and only one man made object coming forward into one side of the image. This being the Flinders Street Bridge across the river.
